Is there discharge planning?
We start the discharge plan at the onset of admission. We work very closely with your existing therapist, physician, psychiatrist and dietitian to coordinate your discharge. If you don’t have an existing team, we find one for you. Discharge plans will be formalized with appointments made before you leave.

How do you involve the family?
Family is a cornerstone of our treatment. We take a collateral developmental family history from the families. We stay in communication with families and include families in weekly therapy sessions. Families are invited out for family time during your stay. We will work with you to overcome resistance to confidentiality concerns. We work to be open, communicate and turn family and sibling competition into a positive partnership.

How do you involve my existing outpatient treatment team?
We identify your outpatient treatment team upon admission to Puente de Vida and schedule a weekly therapeutic session with your outpatient therapist, yourself and your therapist at Puente de Vida.

Do you take insurance?
Insurance is accepted on a case by case basis. Prior to admission, insurance issues will be resolved to find out what the coverage is and whether the insurance company will reimburse for services. We are skilled at doing on-going utilization review for on-going authorization.

Is there a minimum length of stay at the residential level?
Minimum length of stay is 30 days.

How long do most people stay?
Average length of stay is 6 to 8 weeks. We strongly recommend that you stay in outpatient treatment after discharge.

Can I exercise?
If you are medically cleared, physical activity is allowed. Our primary physical activity is yoga and walks in the neighborhood.

What is meal support?
Meal support is a form of emotional support provided to a person struggling with an eating disorder before, during and after meals/snacks in an effort to increase the struggling person’s success with meal/snack completion. Meal support can help those who struggle with restricting food intake and have food rituals, those who have binge eating, those with purging behaviors, those who have over-exercising behaviors and those who have self harming behaviors.
